The costs for heating and electricity for a number of students rooms in Middelburg will be increased by 51 percent by 1 July 2023! The Dutch government has supported low income households but refuses to support people renting a room, including students. Some cities in the Netherlands do provide a compensation of approximately 300 euro under strict conditions
We, as students from the UCR / HZ in Middelburg.
establish that the energy costs for students renting a room in Middelburg are being increased by more then 50 %, while their income remains the same and cannot match this sharp increase, which may lead to poverty and damage their study results
to support the students who need it by a financial compensation under clear and fair conditions.
